Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al What ?

Don’t just follow, be a leader and discover new destinations, just as I did a few years ago when I was invited to this charming emirate in the UAE.

Leisure travellers can immerse themselves in Ras Al Khaimah’s natural beauty, culture and tradition. Meaning ‘Top of the Tent’, RAK is a trove of traditional and modern-day treasures. The most northerly emirate on the UAE’s west coast, Ras Al Khaimah has a pristine 64km shoreline that is backed by lush palm-filled plains. This is overshadowed by the precipitous Hajar Mountains to the east. In the north, close to the emirate’s border with the Sultanate of Oman, the sheer rocky mountain seems to rise steeply from the water’s edge. This is without doubt the most interesting emirate, it has it all.

It is also an historians’ delight. Excavations have revealed that the advanced trading community existed here in 5000 BC. The site that generates the most interest in Ras Al Khaimah, however, is the ruined fort believed to have been the palace of the legendary Queen of Sheba, referred to as ‘Balqis’  in Arabic.

Only 50 minutes North of Dubai, this is a great place to discover and we have hundreds of clients who return two or three times a year to a place they feel they discovered and seem reluctant to tell others, as this is their little private oasis. If you want giant shopping malls and bumper to bumper traffic jams, then this is not for you, if you want to chill, relax and unwind then Ras Al Khaimah is for you. If you want adventure and sport, this is also the place to be, it has it all and ticks so many boxes of the modern day traveller.

I challenge you not to unwind and not have an unforgettable holiday in this best kept secret in the UAE, it is also the most affordable, so take a look at some of the amazing offers we have and come and discover our little gem !

A Must Place to Visit The Mussandam Peninsula

As much as I love Dubai and all the amazing wonders it has created, there are none that match a visit to the Mussandam Peninsula. This is what is described by many as the Fjords of the Middle East, with a countryside that features mangroves, sea-level sabkah (salt-flats,) gravel plain, desert, stunning mountain scenery and the famous Fjords of Arabia. Here the mountains plunge steeply into the clear waters of the Strait of Hormuz.

Here can can jump ship and swim with the dolphins who always in the area.

Once again, why go anywhere and not touch the local culture and it’s past, the proud people of Ras Al Khaimah were great seafarers and used their handcrafted wooden boats to fish, dive for pearls and transport goods to far-away places such as Africa and China. These sturdy wooden boats can still be seen on Maarid beach.

Life’s a beach

Some of the finest beaches in the Middle East

If’s it’s just the beach that charges one’s batteries, then look no further as I challenge anyone to find better stretches of pristine coastline to chill and top up the tan. It is stated that the seas of this coast are the warmest on the planet and come July and August you will find them a tad too hot to bath in, but we have clients who choose this time to go as the sea will help heal various ailments and conditions.

Chill & Challenges

And don’t think this is just a place to unwind !

Unwind you will, but come on, life’s a challenge and Ras Al Khaimah offers many other exciting things to do, from great(affordable) golf, diving, fishing and some real fun ! How good a shot are you ? visit the gun club and try out some serious shooting, or how about flying a plane, it’s all there and at affordable prices. My favourite by miles is the quad bikes in the desert, and don’t worry, its four wheels and anyone can drive them. Get a true feel of the desert and let rip in the sand on these ultra-safe machines but watch out for the camels!

Over the past five years we have seen thousands of our guests enjoying the emirate as the perfect pre or post cruise stay option with most saying that they felt that Ras Al Khaimah was exactly what they came to discover, with desert, beaches, mountains and its charming locals. Not endless shopping malls and high rise buildings, far from it, this place is steeped in history but moving forward at a gentle pace resulting in affordable luxury hotels, unspoilt beaches and fanned by a cool mountain breeze. All the tours you find offered on the cruise ships can be found here and at a far better price and choice.

Ras Al Khaimah is for EVERYONE ! so go and discover the warmth and smile of it’s people

Discover it soon, before the rest of the world does !

Crowded beaches screened by high rise, not in RAK. This is the 5* Hilton Beach Resort & Spa on a busy day ! Stunning beaches and a fantastic backdrop of the Hajar Mountains. This is another of the great hotels and resorts we offer in Ras Al Khaimah

Columbus might have discovered a few places in his time , but I do feel I discovered the best kept secret in the UAE in Ras Al Khaimah  (meaning ‘Top of the Tent.’) I found this little gem of an emirate a few years ago and have been responsible for thousands of very happy clients enjoying all it has to offer. Now it’s not a Dubai or Abu Dhabi, far from it, those great emirates have moved on to the bigger things in other ways, but I truly feel they have lost most of what people want to experience and enjoy from the region, the culture and it’s charming people.

Only 50 minutes from Dubai International Airport, RAK will have you de-stressed within a few hours of touchdown but when you want to taste the ‘buzz’ of Dubai, it’s less than an hour away. I challenge anyone not to like this gem of a destination and with our guaranteed lowest rates in the world you will see why The Sunday Telegraph rated it as one of the worlds’ Top Ten places to soon to happen. So before it’s too late, discover it now before the word gets out. The ‘Top of the Tent’ was seen as a welcome to weary strangers and travellers and that welcome is still there and you will soon be greeted by our global partners in the UAE, World of Travel who will ensure your stay will be remembered for all the right reasons.
